About the Trainer
Judith Blakeman, CPDT-KA
Judy has been working with dogs for most of her life. She believes in continuing education and as a dog trainer having as many tools in your tool box as possible. Judy loves teaching people about the wonderful world of dogs and the power of positive dog training, believing that all change starts with more effective communication between dog and owner.
Judy has over 10 years experience teaching training classes (Dog Manners 1 & 2, Puppy
Socialization, Rally Obedience, AKC - Canine Good Citizen, Reactive Rehab), administering CGC testing, training service dogs (PTSD and Autism), and running the rescue/adoption program for an Austin based training facility. During her tenure as rescue coordinator she facilitated the adoption of over 1,000 rescue dog from area dog shelters. She was responsible for temperament testing dogs from area shelters for inclusion into the service dog training program. For 15 years she also owned her own pet sitting business in southwest Austin taking care of clients’ dogs in their own homes.
Judy loves learning new tips and tricks for training problem dogs and has spent time training with some of the best trainers, a few of her favorites: Suzanne Clothier, Sue Sternberg, PatMiller, Grisha Stewart, John Rogerson and Ian Dunbar. Judy served for 6 years as president of the United States Lancashire Heeler club. She is certified through the CCPDT (CertificationCouncil for Professional Dog Trainers) as a CPDT-KA.
